Planters are great at the vision. The details are where plants get stuck.
I’ve coached church planters for twenty years. In that time I’ve walked closely with more than two hundred of them, and helped assess and train many more. Nearly every one had a clear picture of the church they were called to start. What tripped them up was the details: the hundreds of small decisions and the order those decisions have to come in.
The LaunchPath checklist is the list I kept for those planters. It grew over years of coaching, one hard-won lesson at a time, and I rewrote it from top to bottom for LaunchPath: 171 tasks across 21 areas of ministry, each a full write-up, each aware of what has to happen before it. It’s built so the first two thirds serve any model, micro church included, and only the last part assumes a worship gathering.
Who I am
I’m Doug Foltz. In 2004 I joined the planting team of LifePointe Christian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, as Family Life Pastor, and served there for three and a half years. LifePointe is still going today.
Since then I’ve served church planting networks in coaching and leadership roles: Passion4Planting (project management), Stadia (Director of Project Management and Coaching), the Center for Church Multiplication (coach), and the Grace Family of Churches (Director of Church Planting). Today I coach planters and network leaders through Cultivate Partners, and I lead Content Engineering and Values Alignment at Gloo, where I build AI tools for the church.
Why a tool and not a PDF
A checklist in a document doesn’t know your launch date, can’t tell you what’s ready to work on, and can’t warn you when you’re falling behind. LaunchPath does all three. It’s the checklist I wish every planter I coached had open on their desk.
What LaunchPath isn't
It won’t plant the church for you, and it isn’t a substitute for a coach. It’s what a coach wishes every planter already had.
